About ziesel.network
Who runs it
ziesel.network is run by me, Mans Ziesel. The RIPE NCC registered AS205079 on
22 August 2025.
Why
I run my own network for three reasons:
- To learn. BGP, RPKI and internet exchanges make much more sense when you run them yourself.
- To host my own services. My services run on my own address space and my own routers.
- For fun. Getting a session up at a new exchange is still exciting.
The name
Ziesel is my surname. It is also the name of an animal: the European ground squirrel, or ziesel. So the network got a ziesel as its mascot.
The logo shows a ziesel standing upright on the steppe, nose up towards a pasqueflower (Pulsatilla) from the same steppe.
